Loving Animals Providing Smiles
What We Do:
Create smiles by connecting volunteers and certified therapy pets with Napa’s most-deserving residents: children; incarcerated teens; seniors in assisted living and memory care; and patients in skilled nursing facilities. Train volunteers and pets to the highest safety standards so dogs, cats and mini-horses may share their furry love with young and old.
For 19 years LAPS has provided high-quality, effective and enriching in-person, animal-assisted interactions for the vulnerable and often overlooked of all ages.
LAPS is developing new ways to maintain meaningful personal connections with our clients in virtual and safely-distanced formats. Each LAPS volunteer bringing a pet into service attends a six-week training class to develop true therapy team skills. The team is tested to meet the highest standards and mentored for three months. LAPS welcomes dogs, cats, mini-horses, mini-donkeys, and bunnies as therapy pets working alongside their human partners.
Other Ways to Help:
- Volunteer with your well-mannered, people-friendly pet.
- Don’t have a pet? Share our story via word-of-mouth and social media. LAPS teams bring quality services to our most deserving neighbors, but not many people have heard of us.
- Be our “Property Angel.” We need an underused business/warehouse space to use for our extensive training classes.
Business Partners:
Dreamcatcher Labradors offers a $100 gift card to a LAPS donor chosen by random drawing at the end of the campaign.
Barry Kannon and Malcolm Drilling Company offers a gift card each of the first 3 weeks of the campaign to a LAPS donor drawn at random from that week’s donors: 1st week: $200; 2nd week: $150; 3rd week: $150.
Eagle Vines Golf Club is offering a twosome round of golf to two lucky LAPS donors chosen by random drawing at the end of the campaign.
