Napa Valley State Parks Association
What We Do:
Provide financial, educational, and volunteer support to Napa’s three state parks: Bale Grist Mill, Bothe State Park, and Robert Louis Stevenson Park. Support includes hiring skilled craftsmen to repair the water wheel at Bale Mill, recruiting volunteers for trail repair, or replanting the Native Garden at the Visitor’s Center.
Our fundraising efforts allow Napa Valley school children to visit our parks and participate in naturalist programs free of charge. In 2018, we added two multicultural programs (Dia del Nino and Fiesta en el Molino Bale) to our longstanding summer environmental day camps for children.
We are also currently raising funds to replace Bale Mill’s water wheel, last renovated in 1980. Needed replacement is estimated to cost $125,000 and will utilize custom-milled already felled old growth redwood for the larger wheel parts.
Other Ways to Help:
- Staff the Visitors’ Center during busy summer hours.
- Work in the Native Garden.
- Train to become a miller.
- Become a board member, willing to take on jobs such as membership, volunteer coordination, and fundraising.
- Donate time and computer skills to keep our contact list up to date.
Two Friends Foundation will match all funds received by NVSPA through the Give Guide.
Norma Ferriz in honor of Kathy Carrick, because I know how much it is to be the only one in charge of the Give!Guide initiative. Thank you also from the Girl Scouts who love going to Bothe and the Bale Mill.
