How We Impact the Community

Napa Bookmine Literary Foundation was founded to enrich and inspire the Napa Valley community through literary and cultural programs and resources.

Our focus has primarily been on the 17,600 school-aged children from socioeconomically disadvantaged households, who are 54% of all of Napa County’s kids. Currently, only 43% of Napa County third graders are reading at grade level, and lack of access to books can be a key factor impacting student success in both school and life.

We believe that literacy is the pathway to empowerment and liberation. To empower life-long learning, our foundation established the Books4Kids program, which donated books to students in coordination with NVUSD’s Director of Curriculum and Library Services Coordinator.

In the 2022-2023 school year, we gave five books per student to over 150 first-grade students and we plan to expand to additional Napa elementary schools during the 2023-24 school year.

It was so great to see the joy in students as the books were handed out; putting more books in the hands of our community’s children is such a meaningful investment in our society’s future!
