How We Impact the Community
Soroptimist International of Napa distributes thousands of dollars in cash grants annually for the health, safety, education and empowerment of local women.
“Soroptimist” means “best for women” and is a global organization that was founded in Oakland in 1921. Our Napa chapter was chartered in 1939, and our mission is to support women and girls to Educate-Enable-Empower them to a future of self-determination and success.
We are women at our best, helping other women and girls to be their best, which means to reach their full potential and live their dreams. We are one of the few local organizations that provide awards and scholarships exclusively to girls and women in our Napa community.
As an all-volunteer organization we are able to keep administrative costs to a minimum, and maximize the number of grants we distribute to local women and girls in need.
We also volunteer for a variety of community service projects throughout the year for women and girls who are pursuing the education/training they need to achieve economic independence.
Testimonial
‘The Live Your Dream Scholarship gave me financial support, encouragement, and confidence. It reminded me that with hard work, I can reach my goals. I’m now pursuing my dream of becoming a hospice nurse. Thank you, Soroptimist, for inspiring success in me and others like me.
