How We Impact the Community
Our all-volunteer, foster-based rabbit rescue started out in November 2019 when several individuals came together to clear a site of abandoned domestic rabbits in the city of Napa. Our mission is to improve the lives of rabbits and reduce the number of unwanted rabbits through education and spay/neuter efforts. In addition to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming, we focus on the welfare of domestic rabbits and educating the public on the responsible and proper care of rabbits as indoor companions.
Rabbits make wonderful companions, but they are not inexpensive, nor are they “easy pets” to care for. They require a 10+ year commitment and their needs are often misunderstood. In 2024 alone Napa Bunnies rescued 64 rabbits, found homes for 52, saw 79 rabbits at our quarterly community wellness and vaccination clinics and facilitated 28 additional specialized procedures. Through our educational and prevention-focused services we have reached existing and potential bunny guardians throughout the community. Occasionally, this means helping someone determine that a rabbit is not the right fit for their family.
Testimonial
Absolutely love Napa Bunnies and the work they do in our community. I adopted from them over two years ago and they have continued to support me and my rabbits since. They are a wonderful local resource, and I appreciate all the education and support when issues arise.
